CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE

As I stepped into the role of Chairman this year, I was deeply encouraged by the continued commitment of Bethesda Care Services in journeying alongside individuals and families through different seasons of life. FY2025/26 also marked a meaningful milestone as we celebrated 30 Years of Touching Lives, reflecting on three decades of care, partnership and community impact.

Strengthening Bonds with Families & Seniors

Within Elderly Services, 805 seniors were cared for and engaged through programmes such as Meals-on-Wheels, Medical Escort & Transport Services, Active Ageing initiatives and the newly launched Angel Project. The growing needs within the community were also reflected in the increase in meals delivered monthly, rising to an average of 6,785 meals per month this year.

Families remained an important focus of our work this year. Through counselling, welfare support and initiatives such as the Family Uplift Programme, BCS supported 769 families and individuals, while 145 clients received casework and counselling support. These efforts strengthened family relationships, supported children’s development and provided practical assistance to families navigating financial and relational challenges.

Empowering Youths Towards Resilience

Our youth-focused programmes also continued to grow steadily in impact. Through YouthSpace and BCS@College East, more than 3,700 youths and ITE students were engaged through mentoring, leadership development, workshops and service-learning opportunities. We are encouraged to see youths stepping forward to serve, support their peers and contribute meaningfully to the community. At Sunshine Club, children continued to receive structured care, academic support and guidance in character development, helping them grow in confidence and positive behaviour both in school and at home.

Volunteers and Partners: Our Pillars of Support

Volunteer engagement grew significantly to 4,188 volunteers in FY2025/26. We are deeply thankful for the many volunteers, corporate partners, donors and community stakeholders who have journeyed with us in service. Their contributions continue to strengthen our ability to respond meaningfully to evolving community needs.

On behalf of the Management Committee, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our staff, volunteers, donors and partners for their dedication and unwavering support. Together, we continue to build a more caring, connected and resilient community.

This year, BCS supported 5,493 beneficiaries across our programmes and services, while disbursing $157,655 in financial and practical assistance to individuals and families in need. These figures represent more than numbers. They reflect the many relationships, conversations and acts of support that continue to shape lives within our community.

This year, the Family Services Department focused on strengthening family relationships and building resilience among families facing financial, relational and parenting challenges. Through programmes such as the Family Uplift Programme, parents were supported in developing confidence and practical parenting skills, while children benefited from socio-emotional learning to build resilience and a positive growth mindset. Initiatives such as Renovaid contributed to improved living environments, enabling families to experience greater stability and quality time together.

BCS @ COLLEGE EAST

This year, there was a stronger emphasis on mental wellness, helping students build self-awareness, emotional regulation and healthy coping strategies. A key highlight was the partnership with Yayasan, MENDAKI YouthSpace at the Student Integrated Hub, which expanded opportunities for joint programmes and outings, providing students with broader exposure and more coordinated support. Student-led initiatives, such as the Children’s Day Community Project, also saw participants take ownership, demonstrating teamwork, leadership and a growing sense of purpose.

YOUTHSPACE

This year, YouthSpace strengthened its programmes while introducing new ways to deepen youth engagement and impact. Youth participation continued to grow steadily, with engagement increasing to 1,927 in FY2025/26. A key focus was integrating skill-based volunteering and mentoring opportunities, enabling youths to take on more active roles from planning to execution. Initiatives such as EastSideSessions continued to grow, with alumni stepping forward to lead and give back.

SUNSHINE CLUB

This year, the centre placed emphasis on character development, focusing on values such as self-control and honesty through engaging programmes and daily practice. Students showed improved emotional regulation and stronger participation in activities, while partnerships with YouthSpace volunteers provided meaningful mentorship and support. The centre also worked closely with families, guiding them through financial assistance processes and conducting home visits to better understand their needs.

Corporate Partnerships

Sustainable help lies in building a community that cares and forming a network of support for one another.

This year, we strengthened efforts to engage partners and individuals from the start, laying a strong foundation for meaningful collaboration. As the year progressed, we were heartened to see many like-minded organisations journey with us, caring for and uplifting our beneficiaries together from beginning to end.
