A Full Circle of Support: Darien’s Gift Of Gratitude To BCS

“There was a season in my life when I needed support. Looking back, I realise that every act of kindness made a difference. Today, I’m grateful to have the opportunity to be part of someone else’s journey.”

For Darien, some of his earliest memories of Bethesda Care Services (BCS) are of collecting his monthly food rations with his mother. Rice, oil, Milo and other household essentials helped ensure there was food on the table during a difficult period.

BCS also supported Darien’s education through subsidised tuition and bursary assistance, helping him continue his studies and eventually complete university.

Today, at 29, Darien works as an impact consultant, helping social organisations measure and track the impact of their programmes. He also gives his time to causes close to his heart, including volunteering with BCS’ Meals-on-Wheels programme, where he delivers meals and checks in on frail and homebound seniors.

His own experience with BCS has shaped the way he sees giving back.

Remembering the support he received, Darien wanted to help other families experience the same care and opportunities. He started his own community fundraising campaign on Giving.sg, raising funds to support BCS’ food rations and education support programmes.

For Darien, it is a way to turn gratitude into action and help someone else through a season when they need support.

In 1996, Bethesda Care Services (BCS) started with a vision of reaching out and meeting the needs of the community in Bedok area. Today, we reach out and CARE for the children, youths, families and the elderly within our community by providing services and programs tailored to meet their needs.
